About the Show
We guarantee you've never seen a production like this before! Presented by and for the families of the Shenandoah Valley Catholic Parishes, Saints of December is catechesis in the most fun, engaging way you've ever experienced. It's like a Saints Alive podcast come to life! The saint stories feature St. Ambrose, St. Nicholas, St. Margaret of Castello, St. Lucy, St. Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe, and St. Adelaide.
Dancers will perform beautiful classical ballet choreography set to Advent and Christmas hymns, helping prepare our hearts for the King's coming.
Additionally, performers will sing live renditions of Advent music that's rarely heard including a 12th century hymn written by St. Godric to St. Nicholas in Middle English, and the oldest Christmas carol, dating back 800 years and passed down only orally until 1928!
There is no other children's theatre program in the Shenandoah Valley offering our mime and physical theatre technique. We are inspired by medieval "miracle plays" where theatre as the full expression of human creativity performed for the greater glory of God was widespread. Whole towns turned out to see plays put on by working tradesmen and theatre was a community-building experience for everyone, not reserved to an elite coterie of insiders.
